Julie A. Smith is of counsel in the Litigation Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in Washington. Ms. Smith specializes in securities litigation and enforcement representing individuals, public companies, auditors, investment companies and investment advisers in litigation and in investigations by the SEC and other government agencies.

Selected Professional and Business Activities
Ms. Smith is Vice Chair of the Corporate Governance Subcommittee of the D.C. Bar’s Corporation Finance and Securities Law Section. Ms. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association.

Prior Experience
Ms. Smith previously served with the Securities and Exchange Commission as Senior Counsel in the Legal Policy Group of the Office of the General Counsel, where she focused on investment management, corporate disclosure, and enforcement.  She also served as Senior Counsel in the SEC's Division of Enforcement, where she was responsible for a number of enforcement actions and investigations involving accounting fraud, insider trading, and auditor independence.  Prior to the SEC, Ms. Smith litigated a wide variety of commercial cases as a litigator with a California law firm.

Prior to joining Willkie, Ms. Smith was a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP.
