Marc Abrams is a partner and Co-Chair of the Business Reorganization and Restructuring Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. He has also served on the firm’s Executive Committee (2002-2007 & 2009). Mr. Abrams has been instrumental, principally on behalf of debtors, in several complex chapter 11 cases and non-judicial restructurings. He also has extensive experience representing creditors’ committees and groups, investors, DIP lenders, and other parties in interest.

Chambers USA(2010) and Chambers Global (2010) rank Mr. Abrams among the leading individuals specializing in Bankruptcy/Restructuring Law in the United States. Mr. Abrams is also listed in Expert Guides - The Best of the Best, The K&A Restructuring Register - America's Top 100, The Best Lawyers in America (1995-2009) and the World's Leading Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers (1999-2009).

Selected Professional and Business Activities

Mr. Abrams frequently represents clients in the telecommunication, cable, media, retail, construction, manufacturing, entertainment/recreation, automotive, health care, hospitality, and high-tech industries. His international experience includes issues and matters involving the insolvency laws of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bermuda, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the UK, among other nations.

Mr. Abrams has chaired the Committee on Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and has served as the head of its Subcommittee on DIP Financing guidelines. He is (a) a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of its Board of Regents, and (b) a member of the International Insolvency Institute. He is also active in a number of additional reorganization-related groups, and was named among a selected few as "2009 Dealmaker of the Year" by the American Lawyer for his work in the Delphi Corporation restructuring. Mr. Abrams was named among the 500 Leading Lawyers in America in the fifth annual Lawdragon 500 guide (2010).

Mr. Abrams was appointed to serve as a contributing editor for the next edition of Collier on Bankruptcy, the preeminent treatise on bankruptcy law. He lectures frequently, including conferences sponsored by the American College of Investment Counsel, the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, Valcon, the American College of Bankruptcy, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is also a certified mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of New York and the District of Delaware. Mr. Abrams has participated in the strategic planning conference of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
