Peter H. Jakes is of counsel in the Corporate and Financial Services Department and Co-Chair of the Capital Markets Practice Group of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York.

Mr. Jakes’ practice is focused on the life science industry, with clients comprised of global pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, medical device businesses, and others in the fields of biomedical sciences and healthcare. In addition, a significant portion of his clients are foreign-based entities for whom he has rendered advice on mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, joint ventures, and a large variety of research, licensing, and distribution arrangements.

Mr. Jakes is regularly involved in mergers and acquisitions ranging from cross border business combinations of large public companies to conventional tender offers and private stock and asset acquisitions. He also handles public offerings of equity and debt securities, including a substantial number of initial public offerings, representing issuers or underwriters. Mr. Jakes also regularly handles venture capital financings and other forms of private placement transactions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and technology transfer agreements between industry participants and academic institutions.

Mr. Jakes’ clients include: Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, Warburg Pincus LLC, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Clovis Oncology, Inc.

Selected Professional and Business Activities

Mr. Jakes is a member of the American Bar Association; the Association of the Bar of the City of New York; and the Board of Directors of Selfhelp Community Services, Inc., a New York City-based social service agency providing home health care to the aged.  He has frequently lectured at the Practising Law Institute and other academic institutions.
