Stephen W. Greiner is general counsel to Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Previously he had been a partner in the Litigation Department in New York and Co-Chair of the firm’s Securities Litigation & Enforcement Practice Group. Mr. Greiner has specialized in complex commercial litigation; securities litigation and SEC enforcement matters; corporate governance litigation and counseling; intellectual property litigation; and internal investigations.

Mr. Greiner has extensive experience in federal and state securities, mergers and acquisitions, and derivative litigation in courts throughout the United States. His trial experience has included complex cases of various types, including matters based upon securities law and RICO violations.

Mr. Greiner has regularly represented officers and directors, financial services organizations and other businesses in a broad variety of securities matters including litigation and investigations initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory agencies. He has also specialized in conducting internal investigations including matters involving accounting irregularities and other financial reporting issues.

Mr. Greiner is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Among others, he has served on the Federal Legislation and Legal Education and Admissions Committees.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining Willkie in 1972, Mr. Greiner served as Law Clerk to Judge Frederick van Pelt Bryan, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (1968-1970). He also served as Assistant to Independent Counsel Arthur H. Christy, who investigated the conduct of Hamilton Jordan, adviser to President Jimmy Carter (1980).
