Recruiting
Willkie offers the chance to be part of a collegial atmosphere where even the most junior associates feel that they are an integral part of the firm. Because we are less concerned with formal hierarchies than with efficiently and effectively providing legal services to our clients, associates have the opportunity to assume individual responsibility as soon as possible. Typically, our associates will have direct client contact as soon as they join the firm. And with no minimum billable hour requirements to meet, our community of associates can focus on what matters most: the quality and efficiency of their work. Our team of almost 600 lawyers is comprised of men and women from dozens of different law schools around the world. We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse environment and seek to recruit people of all backgrounds and cultural experiences. Our summer associate program is our primary recruiting tool. Willkie looks not only for intelligence in applicants, but also for a wide variety of qualities that we think will eventually make them great lawyers -- including self-confidence, professionalism, maturity, and creativity. We believe that our more than century-old record of success is due in large part to our ability to attract and retain highly motivated lawyers with exceptional academic achievements.
