New York : Summer Associates

Welcome to Willkie. We’ve been in your shoes, and we know that law students consider many factors in choosing a law firm. We believe that the decision ultimately comes down to a search for two things: the highest quality of work and colleagues with whom they enjoy working. The purpose of our summer program is to provide law students with the opportunity to experience this and more:
  • A small firm feel with large firm opportunities and resources:

Willkie’s "open door" policy makes it easy to forget that we’re an elite international law firm with over 360 attorneys in our New York office. Lawyers and staff alike are part of the welcoming and inclusive culture that makes Willkie a unique place to work.

  • A strong commitment to our summer associates:

Each one of the 38 members of our 2012 summer associate class received an offer for a position as a full-time associate. Nearly everyone in the class accepted their offers and will join the firm as associates in the fall of 2013.

  • Diverse Practice Areas:

Our summer program exposes summer associates to a number of practice areas and encourages summer associates to explore any and all areas of law. For more information on practice areas, click here.

  • Quality Work Assignments:

The structure of our program ensures that summer associates receive assignments typical of those normally given to full-time associates.

  • Training and Mentoring:

The firm regularly hosts a variety of training and mentoring programs. To learn more about the unique programs we offer to our summer associates, please click here.

NICOLE HUMPHREY...

I am extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to summer at Willkie. Everyone from the support staff to the partner level has been exceedingly kind, professional, and hard working. I was never without informal mentors to help me and give me guidance.
